Color

In the field of photometric analysis, the color or coloration of liquids refers to the optical property by which they alter the spectral composition of the visible light. As a result of the absorption of certain wavelengths of the light passing through it, the liquid exhibits the corresponding complementary color.

The first interest in spectral analysis is the coloration evoked by dissolved substances. Undissolved, finely dispersed substances can also produce coloration as a result of scattered light.
