Flocculation

The sedimentation of solids is accelerated by the addition of a flocculating agent. Flocculating agents are substances which can agglomerate extremely small particles (<1 microns) to form larger and heavier particles (macroflocs). In the sedimentation tank these particles sink rapidly and can thus be separated from the water.
