Secondary standards for calibration control


Monitoring instruments in any application such as turbidity measurement require a periodical check for assuring correct measurement. Instruments with lower performance show significant drift that requires a regular calibration procedure, high quality monitors such as the AquaScat from SIGRIST-PHOTOMETER operate virtually drift free. However for quality assurance reasons there is often the need for checking of the performance as certified ISO 9001 operators typically prescribe mandatory verifications of their metering equipment.
FireGuard 2
The FireGuard detects emerging fires already at their early stages (cold smoke). The sensor uses the available natural air stream in the tunnel. Any influence caused by fog will be eliminated by optional heating elements. The sensor is very compact and has neither movable parts nor wear parts nor does it need consumables. As a light source, an economical LED is used. An adjustable bracket allows mounting at the wall, in the arched section or at the ceiling. Special models for installation in the intermediate ceiling or directly in the ventilation dampers are available. Various ways of connections allow a flexible system integration. Individual setting of parameters allows an optimal object and location related setting of alarms, there are no false alarms. Maintenance is limited to occasional cleaning and the automatic adjustment with a control rod. Soiling monitoring provides information on the state of the instrument. Maintenance is only necessary when required, from experience only about every 5 years, and the time required per instrument is normally between 15 and 25 minutes at the most.
AquaScat 2 HT
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027 in a free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window foiling and minimizes servicing which is especially of importance with the version HT for high turbidity. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference to be mounted when performing the check.
AquaScat 2 P
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027 and is specially designed for installations with highly gaseous water under pressure. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference that is mounted when performing the check.
AquaScat 2 WTM
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027 using 90+° scattered light detection in a free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window foiling and minimizes servicing to a minimum. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit that is either mounted to perform the check or that is already built in (depending on variant).
TurBiScat
The TurBiScat monitors turbidity in liquids, optional also the (beer)colour in EBC. The combination of Hastelloy and sapphire in a sealless design allows operating the unit in practically all process applications. Turbidity measurement is done with colour compensation. Window fouling is monitored, compensated and can be checked using an anti-fouling control. Calibration is easily done using a secondary reference standard.
StackGuard
The StackGuard continuously monitors the scatted light intensity of an extracted, withdrawn sample of gas. The laser light source minimized stray light and improves sensitivity to the µg/m³ level, the filtered purge air prevents from window soiling. A calibration check is performed by means of a checking rod.
FireGuard
The FireGuard measures the scattered light intensity in tunnels with scattering angle, measuring range, response threshold and signal processing being optimized for smoke and fire detection. Air sample is fed through the measuring cell without the use of a fan, effectively preventing from window soiling. Calibration is performed in E/m and can be checked easily with a calibration rod.

StackGuard System
The StackGuard continuously monitors the scatted light intensity of an extracted, withdrawn sample of gas. A calibration check is performed by means of a checking rod. The sample air is led out of the stack, heated up above the dew point and then fed through the measuring cell.
VisGuard OMD
The VisGuard measures the scattered light intensity of a sample drawn into the instrument. Filtered purge air is fed through the flow cell, thus enveloping the sample in a protective shroud of clean air. This effectively keeps the optics clean. Oil dust in the sample can be detected early to help preventing from further incidents.

This allows for getting information about the particle size causing the turbidity as well as for compensation of colour and fouling influence. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference. A version is offered with flameproof encapsulation for installations in areas requiring explosion protection.
DualScat Ex
The DualScat monitors turbidity in liquids, using a single light source to detect transmittel light and scattered light at 90° and 25°. This allows for getting information about the particle size causing the turbidity as well as for compensation of colour and fouling influence. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference. The Ex version is offered with flameproof encapsulation for installations in areas requiring explosion protection.

This allows for getting information about the particle size causing the turbidity as well as for compensation of colour and fouling influence. Several linearization curves can be stored for different types of bottles in order to compensate for the influence of bottle colour or size. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference.
