Under the motto "we measure every beer" SIGRIST presents itself at the Brau in Nuremberg this year.
Online and laboratory measurement of various parameters is used to control the brewing process, as well as for quality assurance and documentation. When measuring turbidity, many factors have to be considered in order to get comparable results between lab and process.
The completely newly designed laboratory turbidity meter “LabScat”, presented by SIGRIST, offers real customer benefits. This includes colour compensated 90/25° dual angle measurement, which is meanwhile internationally established, also at a sample temperature of 0°C, the monitoring of the water bath quality, and the comfortable operation using a colour touch-screen. Verification and a possible recalibration is easy using a solid reference standard. The use of identical parts as in the online turbidity sensor TurBiScat guarantees best possible correlation between process and laboratory. Routine maintenance is simple and don’t require any tools.

Process optimizations with the target to avoid product losses and to save costs are never ending topics in every brewery. SIGRIST meets these challenges by offering solutions with their sensors, which quickly result in higher efficiency and cost savings. LabScat 2
The LabScat monitors turbidity in liquids, using a single light source to detect transmitted light and scattered light at 90° and 25°. This allows colour-compensated dual-angle measurement according to MEBAK and EBC standard, in bottles and glass cuvettes. Bottle rotation and water-bath minimize disturbing influences, the quality of the water bath is monitored. Operation is done via a colour touchscreen. No tools are required for routine maintenance. Calibration check is simply performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference, which is part of the scope of supply. Sample ID and handling measuring data are performed using digital interfaces (USB, Ethernet with web browser).

AquaScat 2 HT
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027 in a free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window foiling and minimizes servicing which is especially of importance with the version HT for high turbidity. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference to be mounted when performing the check.

AquaScat 2 WTM
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027 using 90+° scattered light detection in a free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window foiling and minimizes servicing to a minimum. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit that is either mounted to perform the check or that is already built in (depending on variant).

TurbiGuard
The TurbiGuard is used for monitoring medium to high turbidity, in process liquids. A single version of the TurbiGuard featuring two measuring ranges can be widely used for monitoring medium to high turbidity. The TurbiGuard is factory calibrated with a true, linearized Formazine calibration. For simple applications and system integration the instrument configuration and communication can be easily done using the serial interface in combination with the existing outputs. For a more comfortable installation and operation the optional control unit SICON with touch screen technology and colour display can be connected.

SICON
The control unit SICON uses state-of-the-art touch screen technology with color display. It allows simple operation using logical menu guidance. The user can select the way results are displayed, either as plain values, graphs or historical data, including the indication of system and alarm status. The control unit SICON offers all possibilities of full system integration using various interface options. A SD card is standard and can be used for data logging with almost unlimited storage capacity for QS requirements.

TurBiScat
The TurBiScat monitors turbidity in liquids, optional also the (beer)colour in EBC. The combination of Hastelloy and sapphire in a sealless design allows operating the unit in practically all process applications. Turbidity measurement is done with colour compensation. Window fouling is monitored, compensated and can be checked using an anti-fouling control. Calibration is easily done using a secondary reference standard.

ColorPlus In-line
The ColorPlus is built to accommodate up to three different light sources (UV and visible range) for the measurement of color, DOC and concentrations. By use of the dichromatic measurement at separate wavelengths the turbidity can be compensated. Measurements are performed inline, the selection of materials for the cell and housing depends on the requirements. A version with flameproof encapsulation is offered for installations in areas requiring explosion protection.

This allows for getting information about the particle size causing the turbidity as well as for compensation of colour and fouling influence. Several linearization curves can be stored for different types of bottles in order to compensate for the influence of bottle colour or size. Calibration check is performed with a calibration unit with a glass reference.
